He’s Gone

He’s gone
& the night rushes in
& swallows her.

He’s gone
& the next day
is a huge empty coat
that can’t be filled.

He’s gone
& the house
slowly stops talking to her.

He’s gone
& she leaves the room
untouched for a week.

He’s gone
& in bed the ice crystals
grow back.

He’s gone
& she buries those photos
in the bottom drawer.

He’s gone
& she feels her feelings
on top of her skin.

He’s gone
& the sky looks just like
the sky.

He’s gone
& she knows he’s never
coming back.
